First, some good news:

Screen time in schools is on the OCPS School Board agenda for Tuesday, December 9, 2026, at 4pm, and it’s thanks to the recent roundtables organized by parents and School Board member Stephanie Vanos. 

These talks not only paved the way for a spot on the OCPS agenda, they revealed the following:

These talks not only paved the way for a spot on the OCPS agenda, they revealed the following:

  • A broad spectrum of ideas on screen time in the classroom.
  • An opportunity to gain more visibility on the ed tech landscape in our schools.
  • The desire of parents, teachers, and administrators alike to engage in robust and open dialogue on the topic of tech’s role in educating our children.

Today, we’re excited to announce the activation of the Tech Aware Coalition (TAC), a group for parents, students, and educators working towards healthy, intentional and productive tech environments in our schools.
