Families Invited to Decode Digital Literacy in Interactive Game “RESCUE ROMEO”: at Orlando Kids’ Fringe this May

Rescue Romeo! invites families of all ages to learn digital literacy, decoding clues in Shakespeare until they either capture or rescue Romeo.

WHAT: Families team up with Capulet and Montague kids to learn how we spot the clues that build digital literacy. Through introspective and interactive games, Rescue Romeo! models the curiosity and contextual awareness for families to practice digital literacy in their daily lives.

What does Shakespeare have to do with Digital Literacy?

  • By coaching and modeling Digital Literacy skills outside of the internet, children and caregivers connect the dots in more familiar scenarios.
  • Empowering children to understand even a short scene in Shakespeare builds their confidence to trust their instincts.
  • Showing the layers of a scene and a character’s motivations trains a child’s developing brain to scaffold information it receives; to not just identify intent and message, but also evaluate sincerity and when to ask for help.
